Hi all. Considering a Cleric for a upcoming campaign, ideally focused on support role. Intrigued by Peace Domain, but have read a lot about how broken some think it is?
1) How true is this?
2) Would it work alright in 2024 rules (if my DM allows)?
Of the 2024 Domains, Light & Life looked pretty good, but not sure I want to outshine others and nuke everything, nor just be extra good at healing preferably.

You answered your own question. This is something you need to discuss with your table, your group and dm. Don’t worry about what others say, it’s their point of view (opinion). Your table matters more. Are you strictly a RAW or RAI, or you RAF. That’s all that counts. Would be the advice I would give you if I were in your group.

Good call. Newer to the group, but the DM seems pretty flexible.
Thinking I may propose some homebrew tweaks to make it a bit less OP: like replace Protective Bond's zany teleporty HP thing with a simpler buff or something.
I played one in 2024 through 5th level. It was fine. Its not that broken. Emboldening bond has a limit that the bonded individuals need to stay within 30 feet of each other. That can be really hard for a lot of characters to maintain that type of discipline. When you get to 5th level adding 1d4 to only 1 roll each turn starts becoming complicated with the extra attack.
I played a Peace Cleric VERY peaceful, and eventually the character had a hard time with the party dynamics. Its a good support subclass and if you are OK being a helper and not the main star its a good choice.

Interesting. In my limited okay, yeah I can see how the 30-foot range is both generally accommodating but also provides some kind of limit. And also the one roll per turn. Mostly covers things usually. But enough different from the full protection of Bless.
My limited reference is my current game where spells and spell-like abilities with saving throws have factored heavily. So my Pally’s aura + the Bless bonus to saves have been huge. I guess compared to that, an additional d4, single use, isn’t that crazy. Cuz if you use it on your attack, can’t use it on a save. If you keep it for a save, you forgo its benefit on an attack and may not use it at all.
I’d say, instead of nerfing yourself because of the way something reads, just actually play it for a while. If it gets to be a problem, then see what you can tamp down.
So many people read powers and spells and assume they’re going to be game-breaking without ever trying them. It’s rarely actually the case. I’m DMing a game now with a twilight cleric and several characters with silvery barbs. And yet, the fights are still challenging and PCs still drop. And I’m not doing anything special to challenge them.
Good to know. My main goal is really just to make sure everyone in the group has a chance to do something (successfully), more or less. I dig the Peace Cleric's Emboldening Bond + standard Cleric package to keep everyone going.
What are folks' thoughts on species? I was looking at: Hobgoblin, Githzerai, Harengon, and Tortle.
Hobgoblin: Fey Gift's boost to allies really fits thematically with support Cleric and makes use of your Bonus Action, though you have to be right up in the action - dangerous and perhaps not actionable all that much? Small boost to saves from Fortune from the Many. Plus the standard Fey-descendant package of Darkvision & Advantage vs. Charmed. Lots there.
Githzerai: Shield spell for otherwise unused Reaction. Plus Advantage vs. Charmed & Frightened and Resistance to Psychic damage. Cool.
Harengon: Initiative is huge for this build to get my buffs up. Would plan to take Alert with any other species, so this would free up my origin feat. Rabbit Hop's extra movement gives decent option for my BA. And Lucky Footwork's extra boost to Dex saves makes use of my Reaction. Perception proficiency - awesome.
Tortle: Best AC out of all of these (which would only have Medium Armor) plus the Shell Defense's +4 to AC & Advantage to CON saves. No use for BA or Reaction though. But extra skill proficiency is, again, awesome.
In part cuz I had thought Peace Clerics couldn’t wear armor. But I guess that’s not the case. Still better AC than the other options with Medium Armor.

I thought This subclass was like a Druid .......... just with shiny metalic armor and some ""illegal herbs"" on the mouth.. ( A'HEMMM..... )
My Ready-to-rock&roll chars:
Dertinus Tristany // Amilcar Barca // Vicenç Sacrarius // Oriol Deulofeu // Grovtuk

Tortle radiates the peace vibe more to me ...
Life's hard - get a helmet!
That was my first instinct.
