Thinking of a new character for a campaign where all the party are professors/faculty at a magic school. I've never played a cleric before but like the idea that he's not super devout but is passionate in unlocking secrets of history.
Grave made sense in the sense that he's always in and out of tombs ("Professor River Song, archeologist, love a tomb") and seemed more useful in combat, while Knowledge seems to fit more the heart of the character's drive rather than just that one aspect, AND gives Speak With Dead as a domain spell and the idea of an archeologist digging up a gravesite to start interviewing the skeletons is very fun to me.
Knowledge seems like the best fit to me. As an archaeologist, you’re not only dealing with the dead, it’s more about the history, which of course includes dead people. But you’d also be looking into many other aspects, and knowledge fits that better.
FWIW, there’s an official archaeologist background in tomb of annihiliation.

Oh that's cool, I'll check that out, thanks!
