Hey hive mind, just seeking clarification. When making a new Cleric, it only listed one option for Domain in the dropdown menu; Life. Is that a bug or am I missing something? Thanks!
Well that's garbage, considering so much else is included baseline in character creation. Oh well.
You should be glad there is anything free at all. Usually you have to pay 30-90$ before even geting to try the game, let alone having a free service manage your character sheets digitally.

It isn't really an exception, in character creation you have most of the more common races available but generally only one sub race, you have access to all of the classes but generally only one sub class, this seems to be selected as the most classic or popular sub class, it enables you to try all the classes and main races for free but if you then want to play with a wider variety of characters you are expected to pay. A lot of work goes into developing the and that has to be paid for somehow.

If you haven't purchased any of the books through the website, the only character options available to you are the ones included in the Basic Rules. Does it suck that you don't get access to character options from books you've purchased physical copies of? Yes. Is it "garbage" of them to restrict content to people they can verify have paid for it? No. D&D is not an "open source" game.

You are missing the books.
Life domain is the only free cleric subclass. You can buy them piecemeal, homebrew them yourself, or buy the whole book to unlock more.
