For most cleric builds, I see a lot of recommendations for picking up resilient con or war caster eventually. It can usually take 2 ASIs of boosting wisdom if you start with a 16 for wisdom, so boosting concentration checks somehow won't happen until level 12.
So I was thinking, why not start off in a class with constitution saves for a first level dip, like fighter 1st level, then take cleric? Yes you'd delay 1 level for cleric progression, but this way you don't have to waste a ASI at cleric level 12, and have proficiency in con saves the entire way up. If you wanted, you could combine your con saves with warcaster by level 13.
Besides fighters getting the con saves, you'd also get second wind, which can help the cleric live longer.
This idea viable? Anyone do this for their cleric builds before?
interesting idea, remember that artificers barbarians and sorcerers also get con save proficiency, especially potent as an warforged forge cleric who takes defense as their fighting style going arround with their normal shield, shield of faith spell and sanctuary spell spamming doge every round

I'd say this is mostly unnecessary since clerics get medium armor/shield, and some even get heavy armor. Variant human also allows you to go for a feat at level 1. Also the proficiency bonus to CON is only +2 or +3, and res. con only really shines at around level 12, so it's a timely build order. Fighter's level 1 dip is probably more beneficial to those without armor proficiency or want that dual wielding damage bonus. But that's just me

Fighter is a great dip. Honestly I like two levels for action surge. Casting two action spells can come in clutch.
