Hello everyone, I am trying to make a character for my first D&D game. He is a Goliath Light Domain Cleric. He is also Chaotic Good.
He believes that his life and his village were saved by the sun's divine light. After his village was attacked by a group of vampires that were killed by a fortunate earthquake that caused the roof to collapse and expose the vampires to the sun's light. So I wanted a god who is symbolized as the sun or fire or something to that degree. I have been trying to find a light god that works for him. Amaunator fits the theme I was looking for but he seems too strict and harsh for a somewhat dumb, charisma cleric. Whose goal is to spread his god to the more warlike races such as Orcs and Goblins by intimidating them to join the faith.
If anyone had a suggestion for a fitting light god. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
Ask your DM is the only correct answer. We know nothing of his world, or what the pantheon looks like.
If you get to "create" your own god, then simply do so, you don't need to use anything listed. Gods are 95% pure fluff in 5e anyway, the domain is the only thing that has a mechanical effect.
So whether you want to be light-hearted Light Domain cleric of Amaunator, or a zealous crusader of Light or Die, is all up to you, the gods in 5e don't actually care.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.

Pelinor is live, Pelinor is hacks-on-time.
Allways choose Pelinor.

In my opinion, Light Domain is so broad because all of its ideals described in the PHB fit basically any non-evil deity. Just choose one at random.
Then I choose Rahma-Lam-DeemDom ( the God of the songs and freedom of joy ).

Gnea, as a Druidic Goddess of the Earth & Life.... it was a forgotten Goddess since the Middle age.
