So im in my first campain atm, the build im thinking of aiming for is life cleric with divination wizard as subclass. Atm we are lvl 2 but the DM has told us that we will get to lvl 5 pretty quick so my question to you guys who probably know more than me about these two classes is: shuld i go 3/2 at lvl 5 or go full cleric to lvl 5 then pick up divination? The campain will include alot of undead monsters so im mostly thinking about the lvl 5 ”destroy undead” ill get with life cleric.
My race if that helps is levistus tiefling and my stats are 8/8/15/13/15/17.
i know this is not an optimal build but i wanted to try it and ive thouth of some fun combos i can do with some spells.
Since this is your first campaign, ask your dm if you can try it out before you commit to it. It's a very proactive skill with limitations. When you use portent you must choose to do so before the roll, and you can replace a roll in this way only once per turn.
2 levels of Divination Wizard is a cheap way to gain power via Portents, plus a TON of first level spells, which frees you up to prepare a lot of higher level cleric spells. Basically you are sacrificing 1 spell level learning, until you hit 19th character level plus 1 ASI and the Divine Intervention improvement
You might want to put one of those 15’s into your strength so you can wear heavy armor. Another vote for at least level 5 because I’m assuming you’re the primary healer, and mass healing word is great. And if you’re going to have lots of undead, you might want to stick with cleric all the way, no multi classing, those extra (and more powerful) channel divinity uses will be amazing.

But on a more helpful note, the level three skills: revivify, spirit guardians, and beacon of hope are pretty dang good so i'll say wait for cleric 5.
Ok, ill keep that in mind
