I'm making a dwarf forge domain cleric as a back-up character for my group, and was wondering if using artisan's blessing if i can make my weapon out of adamantine or if it'd have to be another metal ?
Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to create simple items.
You conduct an hour-long ritual that crafts a nonmagical item that must include some metal: a simple or martial weapon, a suit of armor, ten pieces of ammunition, a set of tools, or another metal object (see chapter 5, “Equipment,” in the Player’s Handbook for examples of these items). The creation is completed at the end of the hour, coalescing in an unoccupied space of your choice on a surface within 5 feet of you.
The thing you create can be something that is worth no more than 100 gp. As part of this ritual, you must lay out metal, which can include coins, with a value equal to the creation. The metal irretrievably coalesces and transforms into the creation at the ritual’s end, magically forming even nonmetal parts of the creation.
The ritual can create a duplicate of a nonmagical item that contains metal, such as a key, if you possess the original during the ritual.
The ability itself has two things that would keep you from making Adamantine Armor. The first is that you can only make a NON-magical item. Adamantine anything is considered a magical item. The second is that it can be no more than 100 gp. Again Adamantine anything has a cost far above that of 100 gp as stated in Xanathar's Guide to Everything:
"The adamantine version of a melee weapon or of ten pieces of ammunition costs 500 gp more than the normal version, whether the weapon or ammunition is made of the metal or coated with it."
Do you have the Adamantine to create the weapon or were you hoping to just use the feature of the class to create the Adamantine?
Because if you have enough to make the weapon you could always ask a Skilled Smith to craft the item for you (If the DM allows). Though to be honest it would be better to make Armor than a weapon out of Adamantine. Armor will keep you from getting Crit, the weapon will auto crit on objects, but otherwise would just function like a normal weapon.
i get to roll up this character friday with my DM as a back-up in case my warlock dies, which he has come close, mainly trying to figure out what metal is best to make a weapon out of in this edition since i've never had to do so before
A DM can flavor it but in real game mechanics it will not work as adamantine weapons cost the weapons price +500 gold witch is more than 100 gold (I also made a dwarf forge cleric and it didn't work with my DM)
But oce with another DM (my brother) he allowed me to craft items based on the weight so if a warhammer weights 2 lb the if I have a ammount of silver equal to 2lb (like 400sp) the I can make a silver hammer but it was a one time thing and It will not be probably allowed for your game unless again your DM flavors the game

Type of metal, by RAW, is largely irrelevant in this edition. There might be some exceptions (like adamantine) but generally it won’t matter. So I’d say pick something cool and flavorful that fits the character and see if your dm goes for it. Like some rare ore that’s known only to dwarven forge clerics that has an unusual color or luster to it, and make it be purely cosmetic. Like you’ve got the only purple and green striped war mace in the land.
If you have the adamantine and smithing tool profiency (which all Forge Clerics have) and are 7th level or higher (which I'm guessing you are or soon will be if you're at the stage of getting adamantine) then cast the Fabricate spell to turn the raw adamantine into the weapon or armor, or whatever.
This is why Fabricate is a Forge Domain Spell.

well darn, hmm i'll have to figure another metal to make the war mace out of since my DM is allowing me to reskin the maul as a war mace
