A Player in my campaign is trying to create a War Domain Cleric, I have a PHB and content sharing on, so they SHOULD be able to use that domain, but when they go to choose a domain it only offers Life...any idea why? by all accounts they should be able to do it, yet they caoont
It's because you need to buy access to the PHB in the character builder. If you don't, all you get is the SRD content, which means one subclass per class. In the case of clerics, it's the Life Domain. There's also a reduced spell list.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
Just a quick note, but you don't have to buy the whole book; you can buy just the War Domain sub-class for $1.99, and can also individually purchase any spells you want as well, so you don't need the whole book (plus individual purchases count against the total cost of the book for if you do eventually buy the entire thing, so there's no drawback to only buying what you need initially).
Also worth noting, if you're using a D&D Beyond campaign and one of you has a Master Subscription, then you can enable content sharing, in which case only one of you needs to buy content and it will be shared with everyone else in the same campaign.

Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
Is your friend creating a new character on his account or is he creating a new character in your campaign?
editted: just to clarify your friend will only get shared options when he creates a new character from your campaign where you can assign/unassign characters.
I need to delete this...I REALLY appreciate the responses and feedback, but we figured out what the issue is and we all have access to everything now...the short answer is...I'm stupid hahaha
yes buying ala carte is a great feature. While I have purchased /most/ of the books, there are a few that just have no appeal to me, such as spelljammer. I am however an affirmed elf fanboy, so I bought just the Astral Elf from that book.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
You can also share the books through the campaign group and then copy the link from join the campaign. the person then uses that link and they can create the new character with any of the books shared in the campaign.

yup, realized this like 3 minutes after I posted ...sigh...but we're all good now
How do you buy war domain separately
Go to the playerhandbook in the market place and scroll down, you will see the individual items you can buy.
