Not saying it is a good idea as it’s a lot of mixed levels… but in practice:
Unarmored Defense works with Wildshape, either from Barbarian or Monk…
… in practice, a War Magic Wizard’s Arcane Deflection would also be usable while in Wildshape as well.
Example assume an Air Elemental, with Monk’s Unarmored defense of 20 (+5 Dex, +5 Wisdom).. you should be able to use your Reaction to get a+2 AC, or +4 to a Saving throw with your reaction with Arcane Deflection… correct?
seems like a waste of levels, but hypothetically it could work
You would be able to use Arcane Deflection while wild shaped. However, recall that when you transform you gain the creature's Dex. So you wouldn't necessarily have AC 20. Bears (any flavor) are a popular wild shape, and they have 10 Dex, leaving you with AC 15 - still better than your average bear. Some creatures have a negative Dex. You're likely to only get +3 Dex at most.
With something like an Air Elemental with a dex of 20, you would have a 20 AC (which i used as an example). With something a giant elk with a 16 Dec, you would get an 18 AC, assuming you had a 20 wisdom for your PC. And yes, a bear has crap for dex so you would have a significantly lower AC like 15 or lower. Really depends on what beast you pull out
I was thinking you were fighting an air elemental, not becoming one, since that's only an option for Moon Druids. A lot of the higher level beasts that only they can access have negative Dex, so it's a really really situational build.
Agreed. I had a friend I was helping with on a build and he asked about it, and I didn't even know if it was legit by RAW. Waste of level-advancement IMO.

A Monk 1/Bladesinger 2/Moon Druid 10 that was (just to demonstrate) a mountain dwarf with starting stats Wis 17 Int 17 Dex 14 Con 10 should be Wis 20 Int 18 by that point. Wild Shaping into an air elemental and bladesinging makes you AC 24 (25 once you reach INT 20 at Moon Druid 12). In any campaign without abundant access to magic armor and shields (i.e. any where the party cleric isn't sitting at AC 26 due to a +3 shield and +3 plate) that's tremendous.
You know what I just realized Quindraco… Bladesong doesn’t actually require that the PC wizard sing during the duration like in previous editions… I was going to argue that most beast can’t talk or sing… but I guess a beast could keep a bladesong going
guess I’ll pass that to my buddy

But thank for clarifying on the arcane deflection
