I'd make a case for The Shepard being one of the more complicated subs, as they summon 8 creatures all of which require fast running and knowledge of the stat blocks.
The Druid 101 that was posted recently explains it really well if you’re going for an offensive playstyle Moon isn’t for you Moon is perfect defense giving you this huge pool of hit points making it difficult to die and while the attacks can be powerful at low level once you get to level 20 Wild Shape attacks become underwhelming but you practically can’t die
As a shepherd and a dream Druid (played mor as a shepherd) the boost to my conjure animals is stupid at higher tiers and once I get the other conjuring spells I will be broken.
Moon Druid kind of reminds me of Hexblade Warlock...the “go to” subclass for those who just want to hack and slash (or bite and claw) like a MF’er. There is so much more that the other subclass offer. Spore Druid provides a really cool alternative to Wildshape. Land Druid makes you more Wizardy. Shepherd is great for players who love being surrounded by furry spirit animals. Don’t get me wrong, every party benefits from having a Moon Druid to absorb damage...I just don’t think there is a need to jack up the CR for non Moon-ers.
I'm playing a Land Druid right now and am so happy with him. ♥ I love being one of our parties main casters (attacks/buffs/debuffs) and really don't need the ability to turn into higher CR Beasts.
If I want to go into melee with someone, I just cast Primal Savagery on myself. - it levels with my druid - it's a cantrip

i feel like it should be a option or something so at lvl20 you could forgo the second part and be able to become CR 2 creatures
buuut i might be wrong so idk
also by the second part i mean the one that isnt wild shape a unlimited amount of times
im just here to play support druid of dreams lol
