So, no spoilers but I have just obtained Ironfang in our campaign. Currently im 5th level Moon Druid and before next session can level up.
This weapon is pretty amazing and i would really like to use it but I'm currently not proficient and my Str 10 (0 bonus).
I see my options as threefold:
1. Take a multiclass that would provide Proficiency ( Ranger,Tempest Cleric,Fighter)
2. Wait until lvl 8 and take Weapon Master feat .
3. Don't use it. (We are a small party and the weapon wouldn't benefit the others currently either ( Rogue(no Str) and War Cleric ( doesn't use melee, like ever))
I don't really want to take the Feat as i kinda see it as a waste since the Str or Dex bonus doesn't help my character at all so I'm taking it purely to use this 1 weapon, which leaves me leaning towards Multiclass.
I hadn't planned to multiclass the Druid, especially at lvl 6 when Shape Shift gets more powerful so doing so seems a steep price for just 1 lvl to use the War Pick. I'm going to do some research now into going more heavily into the classes mentioned above but I'm really interested in opinions....
Although it's nice to see someone think about multi-classing as a direct result of things happening in the campaign, rather than purely a mechanical advantage....the end-cap ability of Arch-druid is seriously good. Forget limitless wildshape - being able to cast your druid spells while within a zone of silence! Priceless.
Bottomline - play with your awesome new toy now, or hold out for 13 more levels to get something even better. 5th edition magical scarcity (compared with earlier editions) suggests that Ironfang may be your weapon of choice for a long time to come. 5th edition statistics suggests that the campaign will end long before level 20.
Of course, walking around with Ironfang on your back may just draw more unwanted attention than you can handle.... How much is the weapon worth, and how trust-worthy is the rogue?

If in doubt - apply the Rule of Cool.
Roleplaying since Runequest.
If you think this campaign is going to 20, don't multiclass -- as Plundered said, the Druid capstone is amazing. It's downright the best in the game.
However, if you think the campaign WON'T go to 20, then do what feels exciting to you.
