Ok so I got this idea for character called beekeeper. So her backstory is Beekeeper grew up on a bee farm with her mother. The honey that they produce on the farm is very popular in their small village. One day a well-dressed man cam and offers to buy the farm but Beekeeper mother declines the offer. The man not being happy about it comes back after dark and set the farm on fire Beekeeper mother try to puts the fire out but loses her life in the process. Beekeeper looking for revenge made a deal with a nature spirit and became a living beehive given her the ability to command a swarm of bees. So think Shino from Naruto exclusively with bee's. Just wondering what would be the best way to build this character. Kind of hoping to just tack druid spells and just have a bee flavor put it. Like the spell snare instead of vines it's glob of extra sticky honey. What would be the best weapon that would be similar to a stinger. As far as race I was thinking a half elf but my sister thinks she should be human instead. As far as what she will look like she where is a beekeeper outfit with a dark green cloak draped over it you can't see her face but she does have two golden glowing eyes pairing through The Beekeeper Hood. Still wondering how she should fight in combat.
There is a Swarmkeeper Subclass for the Ranger in Tasha's. Seems pretty good for this character.
As for the race I'd suggest the Dhampir. While they normally are all about vampires etc. I think it's an easy reflavor. Walking on walls etc. seems pretty bee-ish and the bite could be reflavored as a sting. Also the undead part seems to fit into your story pretty nicely.
For my money circle of spores 2, swarm keeper 5, then back to druid. Symbiotic entity will only proc off of weapon attacks so extra attack is a good synergy. You can go shilllelagh with dueling and ensnaring strikes or short swords with two weapon style and hunters mark.
(1) Warlock: the nature spirit was a genie. Pick one of the 4 elements. Air would work well with the insect theme (Djinni and they are good aligned).
(2) Ranger: Swarmkeeper (bees).
(3) Druid: Spores druid reflavored as bees like someone said here. You could probably make a case for land druid of whatever type of region she is from and four of them get Insect plague added to their spell list at 9th level but grassland would work (invisibility, pass without trace, insect plague, freedom of movement, haste, etc added to spell list).
A few race options (I always use custom stats):
(1) Reborn (Fairy). she was dying in the fire too but made the deal with the nature spirit too and becomes a Reborn. She keeps the wings (flight) but loses her fairy magic, while gaining some resistances/advantages and the skill ability.
(2) Fairy (insect wings and maybe you reflavor her appearance to give her insect antenna too since fairy appearances can vary, and they have 2 spells).
(3) Air genasi works too since bees are air creatures. and the lightning resistance, levitation, feather fall, and shocking grasp could help.
There's a subclass (homebrew) that lets you wild shape into a swarm. I'm using it right now and it's quite fun. If I remember later I'll post the link to it.
Essentially when you wild shape you use the swarm creature, boost it's HP, to hit, and damage based on druid level. You get extra features as you level, including the ability to change into a Large swarm, and to use the swarm to protect you by partially changing in reaction to damage.

Circle of Spores is a must. Summon a swarm of bees to attack foes, all that stuff. Ask your DM if you can reflavour the fungi to bees, and you're set.
Studded Leather: He does exactly what I do
Natural Armor: But better

Interesting ideas definitely would have to have a talk with the DM but at least you're giving me a general idea what I can do.
