Anyone besides myself a little disconcerted that the Tempest Cleric has usurped the Druids Nature based war-caster slot?
Tempest Clerics are essentially the 5e version of the 3.5 Stormlord PrC which I personally loved. I'm not sure the reasoning behind giving this solely to Clerics and not having a Circle of Storms or some such for Druids. That being said I know it's be an easy adaptation and I am in the process of doing so for this and another druid circle.
I wanted to gauge the opinion out there. Is the Tempest Cleric a good fit? Should there be another or different Nature based Cleric choice? Circle of Storms for Druid makes sense or do Druids kind of go that direction anyway?
I see your point and you make some very good ones. I wasn't really speaking mechanically though. I think personally I prefer the natural world and it's associated magics separate from the deities.
The fact that this bothers me at all simply serves as a vehicle to make clear my own preferences. It explains why my homebrew world and the deities in it are the way they are.
I guess I've never really thought of Druids as Warcasters, but I also didn't pay much attention to them in 3rd.
Although yeah, I do look forward to a Circle of the Storms one day, I think the Druid could use more diversity: So far I see Were-Druid and Caster-Druid.

Druids must be swift like the coursing river,
With all the force of a great typhoon,
With all the strength of a raging fire,
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon.
Wonderful. Simply wonderful.

@JdV, I'm not sure the Tempest Cleric steal's the Druids thunder.
Don't get me wrong if you are making a Land Druid a 2 level dip into Tempest Druid can get you a lot!
I don't think it really gets going until 8th level when the Tempest can deal +1d8 thunder a round every round... which is super rad.
Remember what spells you get a what level:
Tempest Cleric:
Mountain Druid:
I think Druid has better spell progression, although Cleric's Divine Strike is boss no matter who your God is.

Haha stealing their "thunder"
I like it.
There are plenty of nature gods, so its not like nature and natural occurrences are solely the domain of Druids.
