Looking to play a Dragon themed character. Basically they are Dragonborn descended from dragons, but through the generations have lots most of their original power.

Would Wildfire Druid be good for this theme instead of the obvious Draconic sorcerer? They would be able to use actual weapons and have a fair number of relevant spells, plus, if we end up getting high enough level, shape change would let him become an actual dragon. Thoughts?

That could work. However, if you aren't against buying more content, The Griffon's Saddlebag has an actual Circle of Dragons Druid subclass.
