Faerie Toast is a FANTASTIC 3rd level spell, from "Book of the Ebon Tides" if you don't see it in your spell list. The problem is that the spell components is "Wine worth 100gp that the spell consumes" (and a cup for each person but that doesn't matter here). So, I was thinking if it was possible for a Bard, Cleric, *Druid* (The player in question), Paladin, or Ranger to create a magical item to refill itself with 100 GP worth of wine every dawn.
At first, I was wondering if an item would be too broken, then I looked at the Alchemy Jug and noticed two items that can be definitively priced. The acid which is priced at 25 GP, and the basic poison which is 100 GP and looks to be a fill vial.
Given that knowledge, it feels creating the refilling bottle requires three things. 1 - It's uncommon so requires minimum 10 days and 200 GP 2 - Ten days is ten bottles of wine needed to enchant the item, for an additional 1,000 GP 3 - (Optional) Hiring an assistant glassblower/potter to build the item while you enchant it. According to the "Dungeon Master's Guide" you need to USE the tool needed to MAKE the item in order to enchant it, meaning if your character isn't proficient in one of those, you'd need to hire them. (Note: I have every rule I like charted down in my own personal PHB, so I don't know where I got this from, but it says that hiring a skilled worker is 2 GP a day) for an additional 20 GP.
To craft this invaluable item needed to give the party paladin access to the druid's high-level spells for more powerful smites while the druid wildshapes around, unable to use their spells, would cost about 1,220 GP. For level 5 characters, difficult, but not impossible. Also note that you can sell this item for double that, I'm sure there's a LOT of nobles who would love an endless bottle of wine.
I am mainly writing this here to get my thoughts out but let me know if I missed anything. Or if I misunderstand crafting entirely. Or let me know what YOU have built for your party that may be fun and how!
