I had this idea for a blind druid character, who would use Wildshape to be able to see in his animal form. However, since I am unsure about the ruling of this and the PHB doesn't clearly state how a creatures senses are effected (seeing, hearing, smelling, etc.) when transforming, I wanted to ask how you guys would handle this scenario.
Would a blind character be able to see again with his eyes in beast form or would the blindness also effect his wild shape?
It is ultimately up to DM, but you get the animal's senses.
I feel it might be important to point out that you can only wildshape into animals you've seen...
I think I would waive the "seen" rule in favor of "handled" or "familiar with." After all, not all animals are so reliant on sight; and "seen" here might not literally mean "had sight of," but rather "experienced."
On the other hand, I don't think that I'd allow a player who wanted to play a blind character to so easily circumvent it (as came up on a similar thread in the game mechanics thread). I might allow a character to use blindsight or tremmorsense in forms that have it, but I wouldn't allow a character to gain vision if their normal form didn't have it. After all, if you could just wildshape your blindness away, couldn't you also just heal (or lesser restoration) it away?
