Since you retain most class and racial features, what are some feats that would suddenly come to life quite nicely while you have the stats of an beast? I am thinking maybe you can combine charger with some of those flying dinosaurs that do not provoke opportunity attacks to get some Nice hit and run tactics, especially the CR 2 quetzalcoatlus who already deals bonus damage when they dive bomb from orbit, or doing something with the mobile feat or taking savage attacker to deal more damage, dipping into fighter to get unarmed fighting can be great if combined with the giant frog whose attacks immedeatly make the Target grappled when hit (Or if combined with the battlerager barbarian your party can make spiked frog armor for just 300 gold so you can deal an extra 3 damage with your bite and so you also can rage), lastly i Think extra attack might get powerful if combined with an high CR creature that does not already have multiattack, as then you are more or less doubling that creatures damage per round and probably deal a lot more damage than what you are supposed to do, such as an 11th level barbarian or fighter 5 and Moon druid 6 who turns into a giant elk and deals 4d8 + 4 damage after knocking a creature prone with an attack dealing 4d6 + 4 damage on the same turn for an insane dps, or just making two ram attacks on the same turn, all while possibly combining it with battle master manuvers to assure the Target gets knocked prone

i am soup, with too many ideas (all of them very spicy) who has made sufficient homebrew material and character to last an thousand human lifetimes
A single dip in monk gets you unarmored defense, which helps in both humanoid and wild shape forms! Plus, if you attack while wild shaped, you can use martial arts to do an extra 1d4+Dex/Str if you don't have a multi attack!

problem being that unarmored defense will not stack with any existing natural armor the animal has and the natural weapons animals have are not technically classified as weapon attacks

No, but you retain your Wis, and most CR 1 creatures have better Dex than most PCs.
I've actually been having the weapon attack argument on another forum here, and it seems like there's no real consensus.

not really, i checked and all CR 1 creatures seem to have a dex modifier of either +0, +2 or +3, that seems pretty much like the dex modifier the average PC will have outside certain STR focused builds

But most PCs are also not in AC 12-14 natural armor...
The AC of most beasts will go up by 1 or 2 points using unarmored defense with the druid's (+3 or greater) wis and the beasts moderate dex instead of their natural armor.
I generally still don't think it is worth losing CR progression for though, as you'll often find a boost to AC by increasing the CR of the creatures you can assume too.

The weapon attack argument is moot because no beast attack is an unarmed strike or a monk weapon attack (monk weapons are required to be simple or martial, no beast natural weapon attack is classified that way).

They are still able to do unarmed striked though, it's just that all your attacks then become a d4 at which point you might be wondering why you are even still wildshaping.
Martial arts requires an unarmed strike or monk weapon, but in theory you could spend your Ki to make unarmed attacks from flurry of blows without using monk attacks beforehand.
[REDACTED] what matters is what happens in your game and if the DM and the other players are having fun time when your dire wolf wild shape is ripping the necks out of enemies on your bonus action :P
I mean, certainly the rules don’t matter if you play in that kind of game. But saying that the rules don’t matter doesn’t help anyone understand how use those rules in a game where they do matter.
