By default, every account has access to content deemed free by Wizards of the Coast. This includes the basic rules, the System Reference Document (including the OGL), and the Elemental Evil Player's Companion (which includes some additional races and spells).
These rules, for example, do not include the drow elf subrace or the forest gnome subrace. Each of the 12 classes in the PHB only has one subclass available, less than half the 13 backgrounds are available to choose from, and there's only one available feat (Grappler).
Sadly, Circle of the Moon is not part of the free rules. You'll have to buy that individually or buy the PHB to access the content.
Sure thing. At the top of the page, you'll notice a number of dropdown tabs. Go to Marketplace > Store, and then click on Sourcebooks in the left-hand column/sidebar. There you'll find all the various rules, options, and setting books. But you don't have to buy the entire book if you don't want to. You can click on the book's image and it will take you to a page where you can buy all the book's options piecemeal.
Also, if you're interested, there's a boxed adventure on store shelves called the Dungeons & Dragons Essential's Kit. Among other things, it includes an adventure for levels 1-6 and a discount code for 50% off the Player's Handbook on D&D Beyond. You can also redeem the adventure through D&D Beyond to get a fully digital version of the adventure, as well as two expansion mini-campaigns to bring players up through 12th level.
Your sheet won't automatically update, but you will be able to go into the character builder and edit your character (or make a new one) to include the new options.
Do you know if I subscribe to the HERO Tier subscription, will I get that content as well? I already purchased PHB, just curious.
Subscriptions give you access to things like removing the 6-character sheet limit, access to tools early like the Encounter Builder and Digital Dice, content sharing in the campaigns you're a part of, etc.
Material outside of the Basic Rules can only be accessed in two ways. 1) By purchasing the relevant sourcebook in the D&D Beyond Marketplace(yes, even if you have a physical copy of the book), or 2) Having your character join a campaign with someone who has made that book available via content sharing. With content sharing, someone who has a Master Tier subscription can choose to make their purchased books available for use by everyone else in the campaign. You can share your content as a DM or as a Player, but I believe only the DM can decide which specific books are allowed or blocked. That lets the DM block access to the campaign book if you're playing something like Curse Of Strahd, or block books containing options the DM doesn't want to allow.
You can also use the homebrew system to recreate material that you have in your print copies of the books. Recreating the moon druid subclass might be a little tricky, but people in the homebrew forum would be happy to help you.
New to dndbeyond
I jumped my druid to 2nd level to see options for circle of the moon.
It is not present on drop down list. Only different variations of circle of the land. Can someone explain this to me?

I'm okay with that.
I just got back into D&D after over 35 years. Can you explain how I would pay for that content?

So by purchasing this extra content, my character sheet will be updated to reflect the missing content?

Because I already own the PHB 5e
Am Only looking to make sure I can make my character sheet accurate.
All set. Thank you very much for the info.
