Hi all, just curious on what the druid communities thoughts are on the new summoning spells we got in Tashas. I see Summon Beast, Fey & Elemental. I'm personally favoring the Fey a lot. I think Fey with Mirthful is going to be super useful for charms, and Tricksy seems great with being able to make a 5ft cube of darkness when needed. With my current load out, I think I'll only be taking one of these, and I'm thinking Fey.
How do you all feel about the trio fo spells overall?
I'm not sure which i prefer. The beast one seems decent to me with either flyby or pack tactics, which are both very powerful abilities. The fey one however seems very strong as well, especially for getting to enemy backlines, and also just seems like a lot of fun to roleplay with. I do dislike the summon elemental however. I feel like they don't really do anything to embody the element they represent. In that regard, I prefer the standard CR5 elementals from the monster manual.
I love these new conjure spells. Great design that gives utility and power through action economy without being a total mess like conjure animals and its ilk. Agreed on looking forward to having these be the only summoning spells around as my DM absolutely hates conjure animals and was delighted to see these.
I don't have much of an opinion on which one to use though. Tough call. I like that the fey is a third level spell, and thus only needs to be upcast one level to get an extra attack. The great thing is that as a druid you can experience them all and decide which one to make a staple of your kit once you've experienced all of their use cases. I think it's near impossible to rate these three highly modal spells against each other without testing them out first. More than likely each one will end up being your preferred summon at different points in your career as you level up, although I can see fey scaling better than casting the elemental version.

They are much weaker than Conjure Animals - and I really like that! In my campaign these will be the only summoning spells I will allow.
