So we start Curse of Strahd after Christmas. I don't have any strong leanings about what class or race to play but this is what I rolled. I always like Half-Elf for race though.
11/ 11/ 4/ 12/ 12/ 16
Party is a barbarian who plans to immediately multiclass into druid for wild shape, a ranged artificer, a bladesinger, and then a paladin. I've never played a druid before but with my rolled stats, I know I need something pretty SAD and that could easily be a druid. I don't want to just spam wild shape so probably not Circle of the Moon. We don't have a healer so I would try and fill out the healer and battlefield control role. Any help building it out or any suggestions would be great though!
Stats like that are why i always suggest a point buy or standaed array...
Honestly. A Standard Human race is not be bad of an idea with those 2 Elevens out to Twelves (could be related to the Barbarian that wants to grab Druid as well for plot). If you wanted to play a Wild type Hermit or Outlander type that does not interact with people, then use Charisma as your Dump Stat. Could also play a Human Variant and grab a feat that gets you a other +1 to Wisdom, and have an 18 wisdom at level 1 which is nice.
Would not suggest putting a 4 in any other stat due to game saving throws... but if you want Charisma and willing to put Int or Str as Dump, then half elf works. You could roleplay a young child, to compensate the terible Str, but dont Dump Con or Dex, as those are far too important.
Assuming youre going to play a Moon Druid, theres no issues with those stats
I'm actually not planning to play Moon Druid because I don't want to step on the Barb's toes and double up roles. I'm likely going to play a Circle of Stars druid and be a back-line caster. STR was honestly where I planned on putting the 4 and I kinda like the idea of playing a child. Probably gonna go Half-Elf and put the +2 into WIS so that I can start with 18 WIS. Then even out the 11s to 12s.
Also, i completely forgot about optional rules for swapping racial stats... the world is pretty much your oyster for character creation if Half-Elf is your Base
Almost any race works with Tasha's optional rules (which is kind of the point)...but tbh darkvision is hard to do without, even though you can get it with a spell as a druid. It's the main drawback of v.human. Personally, I rather like the idea of a forest gnome/Stars druid combo because it has both flavour and mechanic synergies.

Stars looks really strong, and the radiant damage options will definitely help in a CoS campaign.
Yeah, Radiant will be rarely resisted in CoS.
