I am planning to Multi-class my Paladin with 3 levels of fighter to pick up Action surge and Battle Master maneuvers. I was hoping to hear suggestions from some seasoned fighters about what first 3 maneuvers they find the most useful. Also considering The Martial Adept feat for an additional two maneuvers if y'all think it would be worth it. Appreciate any advice.
Mixing martial classes tend not to be very useful, as you delay a lot of features, especially if you are not level 5 yet. Delaying extra attack is much more detrimental than anything else that could help your character. You can always just get the martial adept feat for limited maneuvers while not missing out on class progression.
I wouldn't MultiClass a Paladin until after 6th level. Sacrificing the offense of your 2nd attack and the defense of Aura of Protection is sacrificing a lot. Also unlike a lot of Classes Paladin relies on it's levels in Paladin so it negatively impacts Lay on Hands as well as your spell progression for Divine Smite.
Although I sadly do find Martial Adept underwhelming: you get 2 maneuvers, but only a single die of a d6.
I am currently level 5 and was planning on waiting until after level 6 to multi-class. I felt that action surge would be awesome for the chance at 4 divine smites in one round. And that a few maneuver's would give me more options in battle, especially after burning through all my spell slots. I play tank for the most part and constantly try to interpose my self and felt that having riposte and parry would be good options maybe even disarming attack.
Get a little self healing, boost your possible Divine Smites.
One thing I might check out, I don't know what kind of weapon you use, but if you're a Paladin holding a rapier. Because it's a Finesse weapon it can benefit from Defensive Duelist, even if you use it with Strength!
The feat allows you to increase your AC by your Proficiency Bonus as a reaction against a single attack.
I'd go with precision strike to help make sure your attacks hit, trip attack to give yourself and everyone else advantage on attacks, and riposte to get another chance for damage. You could also go rally. It's not as useful in terms of defeating your enemies, but it fits thematically with a paladin.
I absolutely love the Battlemaster! Most characters I make end up going battle master due to their combat versatility and thematic choice of a "smart" fighter. Here are my favorite maneuvers:
Trip Attack: Knock someone prone with the first attack, hit them with advantage for the rest of your attacks.
Parry: A solid ability if you don't find yourself using your reaction much or seem to be taking a lot of damage because of lower AC.
Maneuvering Attack: Your mage is just a bit to close to the big, bad Ogre? Well get them out of there!
Commander's Strike: Great if you have a Rogue in the party. You hit with your first attack and then let that Rogue w/ Sneak Attack hit hard.
Evasive Footwork: Find yourself in some trouble? Well here is how you can run away without spending an action to disengage.
Pushing Attack: Push people off cliffs! Enough said.
Precision Attack: This is really good if you have Great Weapon Master or Sharpshooter, but it really comes in handy if you find yourself having a hard time landing a hit.
Sorry if this is not quite on topic, but I could not find how to start a new thread.
Why am I unable to choose "Battle Master" as my Martial Archetype? The text says I can choose between Champion, Battle Master, or Eldritch Knight, but it only gives me the option to choose "Champion".
The DnDBeyond is currently using a limited version of the 5e SRD.
It's missing a lot of information, currently each class only gets 1 archtype, and there are quite a lot of spells missing from the list. (Especially Paladin spells).
I agree with all of these, but would also add in disarming attack. Very helpful when someone has a powerful weapon. Makes them much easier to deal with when they don’t have a +1 two handed weapon to hit you with ;)
I will throw my hat in to say Parry is a life saver, even if you're wearing heavy armor and using a shield. Being able to negate 1d8+dex damage may not seem like a lot, but in the clutch moments where you're taking over 20 damage per hit that can end up saving your butt. I switched from riposte to parry just to stay in the game longer, and so far it's working wonders.

That sounds like a solid build.

so... If I do take battle master, any suggestions on favorite or super useful maneuvers

The Battlemaster in my campaign uses Menacing Attack a lot...with a longbow.
Worked well enough against a giant, who had run out of rocks. Then the casters like myself just wore him down safely from range.
