Also, if you are an Eldritch Knight, you can actually cast two levelled spells in a round using Action Surge.
This works for multiclass as well, yes? Fighter 3/Wizard X can use action surge to cast 2 leveled spells right? And if they have an appropriate bonus action cantrip they'd be able to cast 2 leveled spells and the bonus cantrip, correct?
Can a fighter Action surge for movement, then take their normal turn to move and shoot a light crossbow?
Yes. What you are describing is move and fire the crossbow with their attack action. With the action surge they could then take the dash action, allowing them to move their base move rate. Those can be taken in any order.

Action Surge gives the Fighter an additional Action. They can use it for anything they can normally do with their Action, be it Attack, Dash, Disengage, Dodge, Hide, Help, whatever.

You can Action Surge two leveled spells, but you cannot also cast a bonus action cantrip. Casting a bonus action spell, even a cantrip, means that you can't cast any other leveled spells that turn.
For example if you use action surge you have two actions and if you haven’t used your bonus action yet, you can use it to cast a spell that specificly caters to using 1 bonus action.
wait, i'm in pure zombie mode (half asleep lol) when posting this but let me see if i got this right.
if a fighter has three attacks per turn and then uses action surge so it's like they "reset" their turn and can make three more attacks? did i get it right or is it just one more extra attack?

Action Surge doesn't give you another attack, it gives you another Action. If you use it to take the Attack action again, then the rules for Extra Attack apply, and you can attack more than once. It's why I differentiate between using "Attack" and "attack". When a Fighter of 5th level or higher takes the Attack action on their turn, they can make multiple attacks. But in other situations, they can only make one attack just like everyone else.
How can you action surge free of charge but to rage you need a bonus action. Who tf needs a bonus action to get angry.
Action Surge is one extra action for one turn. Rage is an ongoing feature with several benefits (damage reduction, extra damage, plus potential subclass features). I consider it fair that Rage costs a bonus action to initiate.
yes, Honestly if you are a spell caster and your subclass or just spellcaster class in general has a lame capstone ability, just put 2 levels of fighter, its worth it to use that clutch action surge to cast an additional spell on top of the one you already cast.
Well, that's if you do it by those rules, which makes combat slower for spell casters and make them not as useful on what they can do. If you run that kind of "One spell per turn ruleset" More power to you if you think that's fair in any capacity. Just have that same rule apply to baddies because pretty sure players won't appreciate that they can only cast one spell per round but then this rando over here can cast a spell with his Action, Bonus action, and then legendary action all at once. If I was done dirty like that, I would go over to Monk or Fighter so quickly and drop spell casting all together. In fact, I was part of a group once that we used that set of rules when it came to combat, next thing you know, the entire group was essentially downed and was given a dice roll to have the god my character worshiped bring me back up to like 10 hp and land a lucky blow onto the enemy to avoid a TPK. From that point on, we were allowed as spell casters to cast spells with our Action and Bonus action with of course all normal spell casting rules apply like not having to concentration spells at once no matter what action it took up and so forth. Anyway, yeah it really depends on if you are going hardcore by the books or not.
I agree, I actually thought about if it's possible to use an action surge to activate rage because action surge states that a possible bonus action can be made. Now I don't know whether this is true or not but if it is, it's crazy to use your action, bonus action for something completely different that you have, and then action surge to bonus action rage. Like it sounds awesome but, in a way, sounds unfair and let's be honest about this too, whatever is possible for us to happen as a player, the enemies of the game can do it too and I don't think we would want that.

Action Surge
Starting at 2nd level, you can push yourself beyond your normal limits for a moment. On your turn, you can take one additional action.
Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again. Starting at 17th level, you can use it twice before a rest, but only once on the same turn.
I don't think you can use a bonus action with an action surge, ie you could not rage with action surge.

You cannot, no. Action Surge gives you another Action, not another Bonus Action. The naming of those two things is unfortunate, because it has led a lot of people to think you can use an Action to do something that costs a Bonus Action. But in reality it's like dealing with square pegs and round pegs, they can only be used in the correctly-shaped hole.
I think it's a rule worth bending at the table for player fun/engagement.
I usually allow players to use their Action Surge for a second Action or Bonus Action, but not both. Then again, I usually let players take a second bonus action if they don't want to/can't do anything with their main action (within reason). It gives them a better sense of agency and makes them more invested in what's going on, and gives them some more options instead of just having to sit there in the rare instances where they're stuck.
