I have a Fighter Battle Master. I chose the two-weapon fighting style to begin with. Then I chose the Dual Wielder Feat...
Is this redundant? I know I get +1 AC, and the ability to use heavy weapons, but is the two-weapon fighting style otherwise the same as having the Dual Wielder Feat?
Also, once I reach level 5 I understand I get a second attack. As a Dual-wielder, does that mean I would strike 4 times?
The two weapon fighting style and duel wielding feat provide completely different bonuses. They are practically made for each other and aren't redundant. So don't worry about that.
Currently, you get 1 attack with your attack action and 1 attack with your 2WF bonus action. When you get extra attack at level 5, you will have 2 attacks with attack action and still only 1 attack with 2WF bonus action.

They are not redundant:
The fighting style is what allows you to add your ability mod to your off-hand attack.
The feat allows you to use weapons that don't have the Light property.
It does not allow you to use weapons with the Heavy property.

No.
You will never have more than one "off-hand" attack from using two weapons in combat. Two-weapon fighting allows you to make one attack--with a different weapon than your "main-hand"--as a bonus action. You get however many attacks you normally get with the Attack action +1 bonus action attack.
The good news is that what counts as "main-hand/off-hand" is fairly agnostic in this system. If you have 2 attacks normally (5th level extra attack feature), you could make:
Both attacks with the weapon in your right hand
Bonus action attack with the weapon in your left hand
Both attacks with the weapon in your left hand
Bonus action attack with the weapon in your right hand
One attack with each weapon
Bonus action attack with the weapon in either of your hands
You don't know what fear is until you've witnessed a drunk bird divebombing you while carrying a screaming Kobold throwing fire anywhere and everywhere.

I am new to all this.
Oh - and any tips on weapon choices? Thanks :-)
Taking the Dual-Wielder feat basically means that all one-handed weapons are at your disposal, so it's really a matter of style and damage type. I kinda prefer bludgeoning, if only because it doesn't cause Oozes to split like slashing damage does. :) But for the most part, pick what works stylistically with your character. The other nice thing is it means you don't have to wait for magic shortswords, daggers or scimitars, you can grab any magic longswords, battleaxes etc. come your way :)
Interesting... Does that mean I could wield two great axes?! And if so, is there something specific in the PHB I could refer to in case my DM objects?...

No, you could not. It allows all one-handed melee weapons for two weapon fighting. A great axe is a two-handed weapon.
You could however dual-wield battle axes. They would be one-handed so you would not use the versatile bonus when using both (1d8 per).
