So s recent character death in a party I run has lead a player to ask if a Tabaxi with their 1D4 claw attacks as a battlemaster or brute is a decent idea as far as a viable character. He knows it’s not optimal for obvious reasons but 2d4 as a brute doesn’t seem the worst thing ever and with my table combining brawler/grappler feats and fixing some wording issues I think it’s not a terrible idea.
Thoughts on the strengths and weaknesses of this character idea as well as if brute or battlemaster works better not only as a concept but in the number crunch as well considering it’s already “un-optimal”. I personally don’t see it as a terrible idea but would hate to gimp a player and leave him with an unfun character to play when maybe I should have just suggested monk or rogue.
That would be a pretty cool hardcore brute. Just slicing people to ribbons with their hands. I think it would also help you put more flavor on your character by using your claws. Love it!

Thanks all!
