I am almost to lvl 4 and i am currently dual wielding with shortswords but i am not doing alot of damage on my turns. What weapons or feats could i use to boost the damage i do.

Dual wielder if you want longswords, you could use a 2handed weapon.  Just try to max out either STR or DEX, whichever is your main stat you’re using.  I don’t know which subclass you are, but battlemaster can pump out some serious damage, especially once you start getting more extra attacks.

it will do more damage at higher levels but now its really weak... now that i think about it, it might not have been the greatest choice...idk

Dual wielding isn’t so great is a big part of the problem. Take the feat at level 4 so you can upgrade to longswords or battle axes, or something doing a higher damage die (assuming a str build) as Utticer said, that will help a lot. 
And once your dragon comes online at higher levels, it should be doing a lot of the damage for you. You might want to think about mounted combatant feat as well once you start being able to ride it.
