I'd like to create a Goliath monk with Stone Giant Ancestry. How would you rule on using Deflect Attack and Stone's Endurance on the same reaction? RAW says one reaction per turn, but logically, I picture deflecting a strike being the same physical movement whether it is with monk moves or hard skin. Thoughts?
The rules as written don't allow this, and while from a narrative perspective it does make some kind of sense, I think that Reaction features are all generally designed and balanced with the intent that you'll follow the normal Reaction rules with them, so introducing the ability to take two at the same time in response to the same trigger would probably cause balance issues.
That's not to say that a Goliath Monk is a bad combo, though. The damage reduction from Stone's Endurance doesn't scale as well as Deflect Attacks and you get very few uses of it, but since it can trigger in response to taking any damage at all, it's much more broadly applicable than Deflect Attacks (which only works on attacks, and until level 13 only on certain damage types). Both are good options to have available; basically you'd want to use Deflect Attacks whenever it's applicable, and save the limited uses of Stone's Endurance for the times when Deflect Attacks doesn't apply.
For the record, the rule is not "one reaction per turn", but rather that once you've taken a Reaction, you can't take another one until the start of your next turn.
Thanks for these. I didn't register that Stone's Endurance reduced all damage, so I was thinking it was a waste compared to Deflect Attacks. I think I'll switch him to Cloud Giant ancestry to give him even more mobility. Thanks again!

pronouns: he/she/they
When an attack roll hits you and you take Bludgeoning, Piercing, or Slashing damage, you can either;
- Take a Reaction to roll 1d12. Add your Constitution modifier to the number rolled and reduce the damage by that total.
OR
- Take a Reaction to reduce the attack’s total damage against you. The reduction equals 1d10 plus your Dexterity modifier and Monk level.
Not both.
