Since one of my player's is playing a monk and he joined the Rangers' Guild with the other player (who's a rogue) but since he can't wear armor AND function at peak performance, I elected instead to create a small list of fist-based weapons for monks and others interested in unarmed fighting. I got on here and figured "well I made these for a monk, I'll share them with the rest of the Monk board" so I have a list of some I already implemented as well as some that I'm still on the fence about. That's partly why I came here to ask all y'all harmonious folks what you think about these. At the most basic level; all they do is add a damage boost to your unarmed strike. But as you progress and find better ones, sometimes they come with nice extra perks or benefits.
Leather Caestus-basic fist weapon. Adds +1 to your unarmed strike damage. Basically a bunch of hardened leather bands wrapping your fist up to the forearm, made to take some of the impact off of your arm for punching armor or hard surfaces.
Iron Caestus-uncommon fist weapon. Adds +2 to unarmed. Almost identical to the leather one, but with added reinforcement from rounded iron studs and has elbow cover for more cover.
Steelfist-rare fist weapon. A lethal combination of the iron Caestus with sharpened steel claws that cover your fingers. Adds +4 to unarmed and can cause 1d4 bleeding for 2 turns (i have that in my campaign) Also has extra steel plates so you can now block weapon attacks with fists.
Nightclaw-rare fist weapon. A sleek black glove with razor sharp spikes on the knuckles and can be poisoned by rubbing toxins on spikes. even when not poisoned, still deadly. +6 unarmed and causes bleeding (1d6 for 2 turns)
Knuckledusters-basic fist weapon-maybe basic, but still packs a punch! (sorry lol) adds +4 to unarmed and has a 1 in 4 chance of knocking target back 1 foot from impact.
Punch Daggers-uncommon fist weapon. A brutal combination of knuckleduster and blade, the shovel shaped blades on these cause deep wounds! +6 unarmed and 2d4 bleed for 2 turns.
Those are ones I'm pretty sure I'll use. I've already given him the Iron Caestus since the Rogue got stealth enhancing armor.
These next ones I've based on other fist weapon designs from other sources. Consider these to be like easter egg/fan service weapons.
Ancient Guardian Fists-very rare, NOTE! need high strength for these. Heavy stone gauntlets with concussive flat knuckle plates +10 unarmed damage (Hellboy's fist x2)
Gnomish Impact gauntlets-very rare, true marvels of Gnomish engineering, these impact gauntlets pack a double whammy. The steel glove has a button inside to suddenly extend the gauntlet along a metal rail to add reach to your unarmed. The fingers of them are lined in flux arcs to zap the poor sod you just punched too! (fallout style powerfist w/ shock plates on knuckles) adds +8 to unarmed and +2 force from electric impact.
War Goddess's bracers-pretty obviously wonder womans bracers. NOTE! can only be worn by women. add +7 to unarmed and gain +5 temp hp when equipped.
Shuko-come in either a pair (just for the hands) or a set (hands and feet) these heavy steel spikes can be used for more than just hurting people too! When you have a full set of them equipped, can make a Dex check to attempt to climb a wall as long as its no more than 15 feet tall. Adds +5 to unarmed and every successful strike causes bleeding damage. 1D4 for 3 turns
He also got a Crate myrtle walking stick if wants to just beat them with a stick instead. For those who don't know much about trees, crate myrtle is like the titanium of wood. It's got a light color and barely darkens as it weathers. It's rot and decay resistant super dense and covered in slivery birch-like bark so that strikes that don't hit it the right way will glace off like scale mail. It's a stout enough wood that I feel comfortable giving this walking stick the reinforced property from my campaign: meaning you can use it to block weapon attacks delivered by one handed weapons without it damaging very much at all. Two handed weapons will do a bit more damage to it, but I've seen someone shoot at a stand of still green myrtle and the .22 bullet ricochet off of the damn stick! All it did was make a tiny dent where it hit, from about 6-13 feet away.
