okay, so it's spring break soon, and id like to use that time to get a d&d campaign with my dad off the ground, as I have decided to build a pally NPC to help out my squishy sorcerer (6 or 7 hp lol) they will take the oath of redemption and probably be a tank trying to protect as many people as possible. backstory and everything roleplay is decided, I just need a build. also, she is a goblin
15 str (+1 for a 16), 13 con, 12 dex, 10 Wis 8 int 14 cha (+2 for a 16)
Fighting style defense, or dueling, but personally I prefer defense. You’ve got to stay up if you’re going to protect others.
I’d suggest a short bow over the hand crossbow, so when you hit level 5, you get both attacks, but a pally doesn’t really want to make ranged attacks (can’t smite), so that doesn’t matter as much.
Well, stick with that then. Btw, if you haven’t realized it already, one of the big advantages of a size small paladin is they can use a medium mount, so it’s reasonable to bring it indoors with them. It can be really useful for the extra movement, so enjoy when the time comes and your goblin is riding a mastiff.

Nooooo.... Replace the 8 on WIS by the 14 on INT. You need the Wisdom mechanics to notice the incoming menacing attackers, while the INT mechanics it works better on some Arcane checkings and if you want your Pally to be binded with the Oath of the Ancients. In that specific case, for sure it's so worthed. For the other Oaths, so many INT so early gonna be a waste of points.
Your Pally mostly needs a good Strenght or Dexterity, depending in what kind of weapon should wield. Then a Good CON + WIS ... And finally a Nice CHA to smite every fiend on the road for the Glory.

It’s a 10 Wis, 8 int. Pallys get nothing from int.
Though as I think about it, she could also keep just the 15 in str (need at least that for heavy armor), and move the +1 to con for a 14 there. Then take slasher at level 4 to round out str.

You could also take resilient at level 4, +1 con and prof in con saves. Helps keeping bless up :)

I'd recommend post-racial starting 16 in strength and 14 in con, even if it means dropping dex to 10 or wis to 8. Gotta hit, gotta hp, gotta concentration. And, as a tank, imo you really want to take sentinel at level 4 rather than any half feat. And if Tasha's expanded spell lists are available, don't forget that they gave Warding Bond to paladins.

I like character creation!
What level?
What stats?
Fixed racial asi, or floating?
Do you have a specific weapon in mind?
If starting above 1, any gear?
level 1, standard array, floating stats, battleaxe and sheild
I like character creation!
also a hand crossbow

My Ready-to-rock&roll chars:
Dertinus Tristany // Amilcar Barca // Vicenç Sacrarius // Oriol Deulofeu // Grovtuk

Yea. That’s a good option, too.
