Super excited for my first Paladin. And likely going to multi with Hexblade.
Adventure is in Dragonlance and my DM is super pumped as those were the books he read as a kid.
Starting as a Paladin and likely not taking any Lock until 3 at the earliest (if I end up doing it, maybe I’ll just fall in love with Paladins).
Backstory is, my Good Guy Paladin (doing either Conquest or Vengeance, so not that good) will die when it’s time to level (likely by a dragon) and my DM has agreed to bring him back from the depths of hell as a pact from Paladine to enact revenge and he will start taking some levels as Lock (think Spawn).
So I need help with the race. I want it to be on flavor for Dragonlance, and hopefully with the Paladin reborn adark/hellish hero.
Thinking something like Kobold, Shapeshifter, Elf (that becomes a Dark Elf) or Hobgolin but I’m pretty open to anything that makes sense. Would love any and all suggestions! And if you have a name suggestion I’m thinking something that is read one thing one way, but then reads in reverse to a new name when I come back from the dead.
Staying in flavor for dragonlance would pretty much mean human, elf, dwarf or kender. Though a kender paladin would be pretty unusual, probably unheard of. Minotaur, iirc, could also work. Maybe there were one or two other races but krynn isn’t toril, they don’t have everything running around there. Elves don’t become dark elves. They’re distinct races, not an evolution. And I don’t remember there being dark elves in dragonlance, but it was a long time ago I read the books. Either way, you’re one or the other, you don’t change races, except by a reincarnate spell. Unless maybe you’ve got some homebrew cooking. Hobgoblins, kobolds and shapeshifters, I don’t remember at all.
Of course, my memory may be off, and if your table allows it, that’s what matters more than old lore. I’m only bringing this up because you mentioned wanting to stay on flavor.

Excited for this Thursday when we get to play!

To stay true to the race options on Krynn I would recommend the half-elf but of course it’s up to dm
