So I'm creating a Black Dragonborn Paladin for my younger brother and I thought since the dragonborn is a chromatic color I was thinking of making him an Oath of Redemption Paladin because I wanted the people to know that he wasn't really that evil. The sad thing is I CAN'T FIND A BACKGROUND FOR IT. I've looked at noble and soldier and nothing really stuck out to me. Can someone please help figure this out.
Criminal or Pirate; make him someone who's done bad things, who's been on the other side of the line and knows firsthand that redemption is possible. Alternatively you could go with another background that would allow for him to have come close to crossing that line before recognizing it and pulling back.
Outlander (someone set apart from society) or acolyte (either in his past or present) could work as well. What was this dragonborn doing in his past? Was he actually bad (criminal, pirate), or do people just assume that?
A hermit could be a good one as well. Cast out from society because of the color of his scales he sought refuge in the mountains. When a cult of dragon worshipers in the area discovered him they would send members of their flock up to his cave for mentoring. Mentor them he did, but in patience and open mindedness. Over the years he came to exact a change over the cult turning them into a respected monastery of the platinum dragon. This sparked his divine powers and he left the mountains to spread his message and more actively combat the threat of evil.

You typed this almost 3 years ago and I want you to know that I'm using that story template as of today
