I’m looking for a bit of help. I’m trying to figure out a build that would enable a paladin (ideally at least level 6), to use spirit guardians. Any suggestions other than to just multiclass with cleric for 5 more levels? Or alternatively, any good synergies with paladin?
The fastest way to Spirit Guardians is taking Cleric levels; the Bard multiclass will be the stronger option that *can* get you to Spirit Guardians (though you probably would look at other options using Magical Secrets).
Paladins are half-casters with a base-class that doesn't provide *any* support for their spellcasting, so, full caster levels / features tend to be rocket-fuel for Paladins who normally exist in a spellcasting desert for spell options.
Can't be done at level 6 as a paladin. Paladins don't get third level spells until level 9. oath of the crown would have you covered as a pure paladin. That said, you can cheese spirit guardians onto your spell list with the background Lorehold Student from Strixhaven: Curriculum of Chaos. Then it's a simple matter of whatever spell caster class you want to use to add 3rd level spells, as quickly as possible. For your money, Warlock is the pick I think with pact of the blade. That would open up invocations so you can get multi-attack with your pact weapon also at level 6 (paladin 1, warlock 5) by picking up the Thirsting Blade invocation. You'll also be qualified for Eldritch Smite if you want to do that as well.
I think that's the closest you can get in feel to a paladin with spirit guardians, online by level 6. Bonus points if you also take the eldritch mind invocation to get advantage on your saving throws to maintain concentration.
Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply it had to be done by level 6, just that I wanted to take at least 6 levels of paladin. The idea of spirit guardians plus aura of protection seemed potent to me for a character who rallies othered to him.
That said, thanks so much for the feat ideas and other options. I’ll definitely check out oath of the crown. I’m curious about the bard option as well.
Yeah unfortunately, spirit guardians and auras stacked requires both 3rd level spells AND 6th level paladin. I think the fastest way to get that combo online is 9th level paladin, oath of the crown.

Oath of the Crown (SCAG) gets access too Spirit Guardians at level 9.
