The three main ones are below (with attribute points for standard array + custom origin)
For the traditional Strength based Paladin, conventional wisdom is STR (15 + 2) > CHA (14 + 1) > CON (13) > WIS (12) > INT (10) > DEX (8).
For the alternative Charisma based Paladin, conventional wisdom is CHA (15+2) > STR (14+1) > CON (13) > WIS (12) > INT (10) > DEX (8)
Finally for the less traditional Dexterity based Paladin, conventional wisdom is DEX (15+2) > CHA (14+1) > CON (13) > WIS (12) > INT (10) > STR (8)
If going point buy and min maxing, then Max STR, CHA & CON, or switch STR for DEX, min everything else.
For a strength based paladin, killing faster is just good, strength is used for all melee attacks and thrown weapon attacks. 15 strength is a requirement for Plate armour. Strength is definitely the easiest form of Paladin to understand for a first time paladin player.
For a charisma based paladin, a few spells are a bit stronger but it's most for Aura of Protection or multiclassing. Oath of Devotion's sacred weapon also benefits from Charisma. I would recommend picking up blessed warrior or magic initiate early to benefit from charisma based damage cantrips for damage (at range) to make up for doing less damage than a strength based paladin.
For dexterity based, it's more for versatility and not as new user friendly, additionally it can leave you unable to multiclass, if you desire to multiclass further down the line it can be an issue. It is viable, just not as good as the other two options.
Also you don't have to go with conventional wisdom, I certainly don't.
