My DM let me switch classes on my character because I wasn't feeling like I provided much to the party, we are a six-man party, but now I'm trying to figure out what origin feat is better for the party. I'm thinking between Shadowmoor hexer, Mark of Shadows, and purple dragon rook(this one would require dm approval they don't like players being able to give out heroic inspo). We are at level 7, so I went for slasher as a feat at 4 and plan on going with cloying mists at 8 for battlefield control. Which of those origin feat should I go for?
As a Paladin, the Hex spell will fight for your bonus action against Lay on Hands and you various smite spells, so I would avoid that one.
Mark of Shadows is..****y mediocre for a Paladin. The spells you get from the feat are decent, but as a half-caster, you will be getting them much later than other classes (at a whopping level 17 for Mislead). Something to keep in mind.
Purple Dragon Rook is probably the strongest of the three for the party, and it will stay relevant for the entire campaign as Heroic Inspiration is always useful. This one would be my pick of the three.
I would also suggest Lucky if your DM puts a kibosh on Purple Dragon Rook. At-will advantage on D20 tests (especially on saving throws that will knock you out of the fight for a bit should you fail) is pretty awesome to have.
To be honest the main reason I was thinking of Mark of Shadow was for the darkness spell to do blind fighting whip shenanigans
Do you have the ability to see in magical darkness from somewhere? If so, using Darkness for easy advantage could be a good bet...so long as you don't annoy the heck out of the rest of your party with it.

The darkness thing rarely works outside of theorycraft. The rest of the party is just as blind as the enemy. Unless for some reason you are going to solo someone, the tactic won’t come up often.

2024 lucky is to have advantage on the roll, so you elect to use it before rolling. It is not a reactive I failed so i'll reroll it ...
