I wanted to make a character inspired from the Space Marines from the Warhammer 40k universe. Namely the Imperial Fists legion. For the race Human is the most likely, Goliath being a clost second (The larger stature more closely resembles an Astartes and the Stones Endurance reduces damage just like Transhuman Physiology).
For the subclass I think Conquest would fit well for the theme while Vengeance and Devotion may be well suited (Redemption? To quote an overused meme "We don't do that here").
Where I'm stuck is how he would look. While there are no end to models from Games Workshop none of them really fit, mostly because they all wear futuristic power armor and use Bolters. Any ideas?

Can't you order a custom figure from HeroForge?

i like linguistics and, well, d&d, obviously. this bio hadn't been updated for 3 years so i figured i'd do that.
Vengeance is imho the closest to a Space marine Doctrine, though any subclass that gives a bunch of fire spells work to, as the saying goes "Purge them in holy fire" A cleric would also work if they had heavy armor prof.
As for race I usually think Variant Human, the extra feat is almost Super Human, Though goliath's a strong idea too, given their counting as one size category larger for lifting carrying and pushing
Appearance mostly hinges on what chapter of Space Marines you most wish to emulate as there are so many different chapters.
For narrative doctrine, Conquest, Crown, or Vengeance fit 40k marine philosophy. Mechanically, all three are good - through Crown's best feature and saving grace doesn't show up until level 9 with Spirit Guardians as an Oath Spell, so I'd pick one of the other two if you're starting at level 1. Ancients, Devotion, and Redemption are far too concerned with showing compassion and protecting the innocent to represent anyone in 40k's Grimdark setting, while Oathbreaker and Heroism are, imo, too independent and self motivated for the brainwashed jackboots of an evil space empire. Mechanically, You'll want a heavy armor build and probably the defense fighting style, since the armor is so fundamental to the image of a GW space marine. Probably a shield build. Theoretically you'd like some ranged ability, but in a D&D setting on a paladin that can be hard to come by. Maybe if the Undead Warlock patron goes through you could pick up eldritch/agonizing blast by dipping into that, since a 'pact with an undead patron' isn't too far removed from an 'oath to the corspe emperor'.
Model-wise, the Stormcast line was pretty much designed to be 'fantasy space marines', and the Knight Questor model in particular is fantastic as a beefy, sword & board paladin guy. A bit big for the 25mm scale models & inch square battle grids typically used for D&D games, as he's on a 40mm round base and stands around 50mm tall, but when there's a particularly cool model, sometimes you just make do.
Ok so my main Paladin is basically this if you cant tell from the name.
I based mine on Grey Knights. Took a Scourge Aasimar and a Devotion Paladin to get the effects I wanted.
I'm not entirely sure Iron Fists would fall under Paladin unless you're trying to make a librarian from the chapter. A Barbarian may fit better.
What you can do for a mini will cost you. Hero forge makes shitting armored minis stay away from them. You can buy a 40k mini and pay to have it sculpted or try to do it yourself. I paid $100 to have mine sculpted.

Something like this, maybe?
(ignore the fact he has a bolter attached to the right gauntlet [which technically you cannot see in this image if you don't know it's there])
Born in Italy, moved a bunch, living in Spain, my heart always belonged to Roleplaying Games

Maybe one of the Stormcast models from Age of Sigmar if you want a GW model? They might be a little tall, but could work for a Goliath I suppose

Use a Space Marine Scout model, swapping out their bolt pistol for a shield.
Goliath Artificer Armourer would work. :)
