I am part of a group that is potentially lacking a heavy hitter, so I decided to toy around with Oath Breaker Paladin. Should be no problems with the rp side of things, but looking for tips on how to play this race/class combo. Never played a Paladin before.
Thanks! I appreciate the info. I might see how it goes at first and if it goes poorly, roll a new character. Luckily, with the way our campaign is setup, I can switch characters each session.
If it were me (and it's not) and I had to do an Oathbreaker, I've been toying with the idea of an Oathbreaker who thinks he or she is still good with the deity and doesn't realize that the deity wants nothing to do with the relationship—like a puppy that doesn't understand that the cat really hates it. (When I have the need for "dramatic" backstories, I prefer the happy-go-lucky and somewhat clueless stories. Otherwise, I try to keep a character's history rather uneventful.)

Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.
I usually do the happy-go-lucky types as well, or the lovable loser type. With this one, I wanted her to be a paladin of Torm but an event in her life led to her believing Torm's justice wasn't enough for the wicked. She then breaks her oath to him and dips into the darker powers to hunt down the lawless.

Any help would be great. :)
Honestly, oathbreaker doesn't have abilities that help most parties (like an aura that buff's undead).
It would probably be even more emo to be an oath of vengeance, which is also the community pick for heaviest hitter (on single targets).
