My favorite race for paladin comes from player’s handbook 2: primal, Arcane and divine heroes from 2009. It’s 4e. the race is called deva. I like this for a more healing focused Paladin. Also resistant to necrotic and radiant damage. It is in the monster manual in 5e. I do like asimar for the same reason for 5e, followed by Dragonborn and half-elf. It more depends on the focus of your paladin really.
