I'm new to dnd and I've been playing it online in a large community. I want to create an extremely bloodthirsty racist crusader psychopath who fights in the name of his God. What would be the perfect God for that? preferably a God of light.
The God is completely irrelevant if the Paladin ignores what a God of Light stands for. Now, actual followers of a God of Light might be inclined to end the reign of terror of this mad dog. If this is an option, just have the God be a good aligned one that one of the players worships.
If you want to play this as a character, you are basically an evil character so, that limits who would adventure with you. Other evil characters might but, they also might not have the misguided notion of righteousness you have. You would see them as evil and not"good" like you.Neutral characters might tolerate you. In the games I play in, you would probably be PC vs PC killed in session 0.
Paladins don't have to serve gods, but if you must the only ones I can think of would be Ares, Gruumsh (unless your character hates orcs), Thor, maybe Tharizdun and Asmodeus ( not really a god but close enough, honestly any Archdevil or Demon Lord could fit this). There is no really perfect god for this type of character, and definitely none of the light gods in 5e lore so far would fit this one. Light gods this edition tend to also be associated with life or safety, not rampant murder and racism. Honestly this character sounds more like a Zealot barb to me. And as Wtf said, this type of character is liable to cause party conflict, unless the whole party are ********.
