I recently got a potion of growth after taking out a small gang, and while thinking about when I'd want to use it this question came to me. Now I know that a spell targeting yourself also can be applied to your steed such as when using Misty Step (I went with Oath of Ancients), but I don't know how similar potions work to spells. So, are my dreams of being a somewhat giant sized horseman viable, or would I just hilariously squish my ride?
RAW, no. The ability applies to a spell you cast. Drinking a potion is not casting a spell. Also, you are not the one who cast it in the first place to create the potion. That said, ask you DM, they might let it work if only because it sounds pretty fun and kind of hilarious.
