I want to create a new character for this campaign but I'm not sure if it should be a ranger or wizard. I like the Ranger a lot, and I have characters already in the class, but my friend suggests Bard. I'm not the comical type and I don't think my character will prefer music much based off her personality; but I also really like the class of Bard too. What should I choose? I should choose Ranger right?
Edit a year later: Ok so I had chosen ranger and bard, as a multiclass like suggested, and it wasn't bad! I really like the bard style. Sadly we died to a ambush attack on camp... yeah.
You could build a ranger that isn't dependent on wisdom above a 13 or 14 and multiclass into bard. I kind of see those two classes as two sides of the same coin more than I do with ranger opposite of fighter, rogue, or paladin. Both like dexterity! Put your wisdom at a manageable place, then focus on dexterity and charisma! Bard has great concentration spells, and ranger, via archery and the archery fighting style, keeps up your to-hit chance with a bow while you're boosting your charisma for spells.

Bards do absolutely nothing with music except that they can legally use instruments as arcane foci. You can burn your fiddle in a bonfire, pick up a component pouch, and play a completely and totally nonmusical bard if you like.
I think it depends on what you want to play. The major difference between bards and rangers background-wise is how good you are in society. One of the primary things about rangers is that they live on the outskirts of society whereas bards need to be in the thick of it to work as entertainers. If you wanted to multiclass like FrankReynoldsGaryGygax suggested then I would suggest the outlander background.
Bards are often called on to sing and play (including by the DM) but there are ways around that so don’t let that stop you. (I’ve done it by creating a drum playing story teller/ chanter style bard) That said I do prefer rangers over bards but that is just me. If you want to do a multiclass Realize your going to be spreading your stats thin your 15, 14, & 13 pretty much have to go to Dex, Con, & Ch and your strength and wisdom aren’t going to be even decent till your level 8 after using both your ASIs to buff them some. See if your DM will let you do some rolls and take the best set.( frankly I would do this with any MAD multiclass.) think thru what low level features you are interested in as you will only get the top level features in 1 class at best - and which level 10/11 features you want even if you run the classes evenly. If you don’t want to multiclass you have to decide what YOU WANT TO PLAY we can’t do it for you.

A riptide sweeps over the land; you look, it's a fish. The fish snarls and says, "You thought I was a god? No! I am Magikarp!! Obviously."

Ranger is awesome.
Bard is great. They also do not need to be memey comedians.
I have a weird sense of humor.
I also make maps.(That's a link)
True dat.
