One of my characters is going to come out of retirement to play in a high level campaign. This is the first Fey Wanderer I played and really made me fall in love with the subclass and Rangers as a whole (which I though were so-so before her)
She is a Goblin level 13/1 Fey Wanderer/Rogue. current stats: S8(21), D16, con10, I10, W19, ch14. Drudic warrior fighting style with guidance and magic stone. Feats: Shadow Touched (cause Fear), Telepathic, Gift of Gem Dragon. She has all the Tasha's options instead of the PHB ones (natures veil, primal awareness, favored foe, deft explorer). Her expertise is in Athletics (+15), Persuasion (+16) and Perception (+14), she also has a +11 in Deception and Intimidation.
Her magic items include a wand of fear, girdle of Hill giant strength and a dragontooth dagger.
I am wondering what to do on level up, whether to continue Ranger or go to Rogue for the last few levels. Not sure either class does a whole lot for me in the remaining levels. Maybe go Sorcerer for more spell slots? Armor of Agathys would be a nice pick up on a clockwork or favored by the Gods on a Divine Soul. I am also wondering what to get on her next feat. I think I need to boost wisdom to 20 no matter what - Resilient wisdom seems like a good choice but she already gets advantage against fear and charm making it a little less useful. Skill expert maybe and pick up acrobatics proficiency and expertise in investigation? Observant for a 29 passive perception and 20 passive investigation?
FWIW in play she is more of a Gish and Melee striker than a full on martial, using fear and disengage to control enemies and keep them off of her while hitting them for reasonable damage and spamming Summon Fey if things are really tough. She does pretty good damage when she does melee with dreadful strikes, sneak attack, her girdle and the extra damage done by the magic dagger.
Do you know what level you're likely to max out at? Your main reason to level up Rogue would probably be to get to 3rd for a little extra sneak attack damage and a sub-class, since you already basically have the 2nd-level Cunning Action due to being a Goblin. There are a few sub-classes that might work, Swashbuckler for basically automatic sneak attack, Mastermind for party support, or Soul Knife could be good since its number of psionic dice is based on proficiency though if you already have a magic dagger you'd probably only be using it for the psi-bolstered knack (boost a failed ability or tool check). Not sure if I'd go that route personally; I actually removed a single level Rogue dip from a character that I'm bringing back into a campaign, because while I liked having the extra expertise I decided I'd get more out of something else.
For picking up armor of agathys I'd consider Warlock; while it won't advance your spell slots, it has a better hit dice and you'll get a pact slot resetting on short rest (two at 2nd-level) and a number of the patrons suit a melee character quite well, not to mention the eldritch invocations and pact boons. Archfey gives you even more fey nonsense (being able charm some enemies into not attacking you is never bad, though your Charisma may be a bit low for it to be reliable), Hexblade is good for melee thanks to Hexblade's Curse and access to shield, Undead is also pretty good for melee thanks to its Form of Dread, though you'd likely want to change its theme to fit your character more. I'd pick Hexblade for a multiclass personally, but it's quite hard to go wrong with a warlock dip on most characters; getting to three level is also just great thanks to the pact boon and the pact slots becoming 2nd-level, as having 2nd-level slots you can bring back on a short rest is something I love to have.
Glad you like the Fey Wander btw, it's a really great sub-class; let's you make your Ranger more face Rogue or Bard-like without needing to multiclass at all, and you don't even need that much Charisma to make it work.

I really like the idea of an Archfey. Being a Fey Wanderer the low charm save is not a disadvantage as long as there are at least 2 enemies I can see. If the enemy I use it on makes the charm save I can twist it into a 1-minute Charm or Frighten going against my Wisdom save on the other enemy. Pick up a Quasit familiar to double down on this with scare!
Beguling Twist is a reason I probably would not take Hexblade too. I think it would be rare that I would actually be able to cast shield. With a Wand of fear and the cause fear spell and Summon Fey I am already using my reaction for beguiling twist a lot. I also have Gift of the Gem Dragon/Telekenetic Reprisal which relies on reactions too. When I was last playing her I rarely even got to use all my uses of telekenetic reprisals because a lot of the times she got hit she had already used her reaction for beguiling twist.
Undead Warlock is basically broken on a Fey Wanderer Ranger, Form of Dread is amazing good with beguling Twist, but like you said the theme and backstory would be a difficult lift.
At the risk of sounding a bit heretical, have you considered going 6 levels in Lore Bard? It's less edgy than a Warlock RP-wise, gives you more heft in the charm/deception/buff departments and get you access to 3rd level non-Ranger spells like Haste, Fly or Hunger of Hadar through Magical Secrets at level 19. Not to mention full-caster spell slots.

That could work. I think I would go glamor or whispers though. I have done whispers bard and Fey Wanderer before, albeit at a lower level and it really worked thematically. At bard 3 I get 2 more expertise too!

Level 20 (assuming she survives).
