How frowned upon is this obviously optimized, rule stretching animal companion choice? I have a feeling this has been asked before, but I just wanted to start a specific thread about this specific beast. Requires DM permission on the outset, only technically follows the 8 damage rule at face value. It's poison effect certainly makes a single attack go over this one average.
Is this something that is mostly permissible even if the reasoning for picking this companion is quite transparent?
Or will most DMs find me distasteful and tactless?
Added a poll if folks wanted to put some numbers on top of the post.
