I'm playing an Urban Ranger in a Dungeons of Drakkenheim campaign. Urban Ranger has super awesome abilities, like a climb speed and an ability called "vantage point" which gives me advantage if I'm 20 ft above a target.
We've just leveled up (to level 4) and I am hesitating between taking sharpshooter and elven accuracy. Any ideas or advice? (It's my first time playing a Ranger and a ranged attack class.)
If your dexterity is odd and elven accuracy will round it off, then I would take EA. If it is even I would take sharpshooter.
Going from 17 to 18 in dex would do all the things that increasing dex does for a dex based ranged character (+1 initiative, +1 AC, +1 to hit, +1 to damage, +1 to stealth, +1 dex saves) and that is a very excellent load of abilities. Elven accuracy on top of that will make you a near not miss with advantage and that is really valuable. At 8th level I would then take sharpshooter.
If you are trying to stick in vantage points be prepared to protect your space/distances from enemies. Spikegrowth or Entangle may be necessary spells(depending on party tactics). equipment like caltrops or bear traps may be a good backup option but Always have an escape route.

Adding to this, Alarm might actually have some use to alert you of when an enemy is about to enter your vantage point so you can react accordingly.

If you go with elven accuracy, then entangle is a great spell to help get advantage in other situations.
Go with EA for the entangle!
Die with hilarity, or die not at all.
How about Piercer?
(My Urban Ranger is throwing daggers from above, and using short swords in melee)
