Yo! so i was thinking and a fighter would gain alot from a single level dip in ranger mostly pointing out the free hunters mark and spell slots the ranger gets at first level now. i dont care for the new ranger but i can see how youd gain alot from a single level dip. Am i just overthinking it? i know we cant really see what the classes have in store for us until we get the book in hand. what are your guys thoughts with the current information we have?
unless you take the nature and survival skills to benefit from the nondamage aspects of HM all your actually getting is the +1D6 per hit. Yes its powerful at tier 1 - but does it compare with getting that 2nd attack at L5 (for an extra 9000 EXP?) or the 3rd attack at L11 (for an extra 21k EXP)? a big part of the problem with "dips" is how badly they delay the solid features of the main class from coming online. If you're going to do it probably the best bet is actually to go Ranger 1 and then switch to fighter from there on out. that way you get extra skill (and expertise) as well as the basic spell casting for 300 EXP barely slowing your progression in fighter.
