So I am playing a game starting with Lost Mines and moving into Storm King.
I am a level 1 rogue level 1 ranger. My plan was to take ranger to 5, then pick up the next 5 levels of rogue, ultimately end up with 12 rogue 8 ranger. My damage has been steady though and I am thinking that instead I will ultimately have 11 rogue, 8 ranger 1 cleric (arcane).
We started with a feat at 1, I took Ritual Caster. We are about to hit level 3, so what if I do the below...
Yeah, I plan to take feats for all the ASIs, starting with Sharpshooter. As indicated, my damage seems to be solid thus far so I think I can delay everything by 1 and be ok.
Right, I still miss some reasoning behind it though.
is this a pure assassin character? If so my prefered route is Assassin 11 / Gloom stalker 5 / Battlemaster 3/something1
battlemaster doubles flashdamage at lv 2 (which interacts perfectly with assassinate and gloom stalker extra first round attack), and when you are already lv 2 you might as well take one more level to get maneuvers - primarily for trip and riposte.
Is that cleric level a flvorthing or for a spesific purpose? If you go wizard you could get mage hand and also get the familiar.
Now the next question will be when I hit level 4 of ranger, (level 6) what feat to take...
I am planning to take Sharpshooter, but Observant may be an option. I would eventually take both, but which one first. I think Sharp, but would like to hear arguments, after all having a passive perception of 23 and a passive investigation of 20, I basically hear and see everything, and find just about anything without even trying.

It gives me a ton of spell versatility, a bunch of great cantrips and the arcana skill.
I usually worry about delaying ASI’s when multiclassing but you have 20 Dex so that not a big problem and it’s hard to have too many cantrips.

Hard to give feedback without a lot more details. What subclasses, what tactics etc :)

I have Ritual Caster and took Find Familiar,
the cleric dip is because the character has a fascination with the arcane, and dabbles in it.
I built the arcane trickster just to see how it would affect spell slots. I really think I am going to go with the first one.
So I went with the Cleric Dip, couldn't resist...
