About to hit lvl 5 and I have the crossbow expert feet and often our druid cast spike growth for me and my heavy crossbow. My beast knocks an enemy prone for one of our melee frontliners but I would like to start using duel weilding as well. Crossbow expert allows me to use hand crossbow and get the dex damage as long as the light feature was used with the other attack, So if I go nick/scimitar I can attack simitar twice, hand crossbow/nick once, beast bonus action or go scimitar, beast, hand/nick attack, huntersmark as bonus?
My Masters are heavy crossbow and Scimitar for nick. Right now im okay with not having the Hand crossbow advantage
Remember you can change your masteries on a long rest. You may want consider changing it to hand xbow - vex will probably do you more good than push. At L5 you’ll get your second attack allowing you to go hxbow-scimitar-hxbow in your attack action leaving your bonus action for spells and commanding your beast. Keep in mind that you only get 1 bonus action so round 1 you’ll want to use it before the attack action to cast Hunter’s mark. Starting round 2 use it to command the beast. Since the Hand xbow is a light weapon you can easily combine it with the scimitar for a vex-nick- vex sequence that Carries the last vex advantage Into the first attack next round.. that gives you 3 attacks in round 1 with one at advantage then, counting the beast’s attack, 4 attacks with 2 at advantage in each subsequent round with the extra HM damage on any of your personal attacks. oh, a side note if your at range you can still use the hvy xbow getting 2 attacks in round with the HM damage if you cast it before firing then drop it at 30’ pulling the hand xbow and scimitar and your already not round 2+ attacks and damage.

Thank you. That sounds very sound. I am thinking Defensive Dueling as my next feat if I go this route. Thoughts to this as a melee AC boost? I did take Achery as myfighting style.
Archery works well as your fighting style, defensive duelist is useless as it applies to using finesse weapons not light weapons. If you’re looking for a Dex stat feat you might look at mage slayer, piercer or sharpshooter. All 3 allow a +1 to Dex and grant some very useful benefits for your bow use.
