So my current character is a Drakewarden Ranger (I'm using 2024 Ranger rules but Drakewarden features remain the same). I'm nearly level 15, after which I plan to multi-class as that concludes the Drakewarden features. I've been debating a lot about whether to take up Fighter or Druid and am now leaning towards taking 1 level of fighter for the physical perks and the remaining in Druid (Circle Of The Moon) for the magical perks.
If anyone has any advice, insight, anything they would like to input, I'd really appreciate it and would love to hear it and maybe discuss.
You really wont get much out of Circle of the Moon with 3-4 levels. It would be entirely ribbon stuff for you at this point. If you're desperate to multiclass instead of just going 20 Ranger, then Fighter is probably going to give you the most with a fighting style and a reasonably frontloaded class. Barbarian might also be good for Rage.
If you're deadset on going Druid then I'd suggest something other than Moon Druid.
WIth 5 levels left you have a couple of things you can grab: 1. subclass and its associated power 2. Upcastable slots 3. An ASI after 4 levels (or 2 if you take one more level in Ranger and 4 of something else) 4. Low level powers
As you noted nothing on the drake except HP scales more with Ranger after level 15. Assuming you are using the Drake in combat your bonus action is somewhat tied up (and hunter's mark is not helping there). I am going to assume you can only multiclass into Cleric/Druid/Fighter/Monk/Rogue because you only meet the reqs in Dex/Wis. Cleric doesn't hold much here at this level except spell preps and empty slots. At 20th you could have spirit guardians. Not sure if its worth it. From Druid Circle of the Sea is interesting, but Wrath of the Sea eats your bonus action. I don't really see much here. Rogue just is some sneak dice and some skills. Maybe Assassin for the first round fun. Fighter probably has the most toys that add to what you do. Pretty much all the subclasses are in play (maybe not eldritch knight unless you really want shield). Monk is probably a no go. Your bonus action is pretty well eaten.
I would probably just stay Ranger, I could be convinced on Fighter, Druid would only make sense if you really want upcastable slots. In general I try to multi away from Ranger between 6th and 9th level so I can build up enough of the other class's powers.
No idea what your stats are so don’t know if this is useless or useful, but, if you have the stats for it instead of fighter or Druid you might consider either warlock or sorceror. Like Druid this means your spell slot progressions continue ( with fighter they end) giving you slots you can use for upcasting. Warlock lets you take eldritch blast giving you 4 ( magical) ranged attacks each round without a bow. Sorceror gives you access to up castable damage spells like fireball and lightning bolt along with access to cantrips. By L15 as a ranger you are probably fairly spell focused so I wouldn’t really recommend fighter. Moon Druid doesn’t really give you that much good stuff other than ( eventually) L3 spells. You’ll be limited to a CR1 critter for wildshape - ok for scouting but useless in combat. Fighter ends your spell growth right when it’s starting to get good and do you really need/ant a few battle master maneuvers at L15? My personal take is that of the choices if you have the Charisma for it you are best off taking sorceror, if you don’t hen Druid ( but probably not Moon Druid).
If you are going to multi into fighter take 4 or 5 levels fighter grab action surge, tactical mind, another fighting style, additional weapon masteries, hell keep it simple and go champion and just expand your crit range maybe? If you just go four levels you get two feats or ASI's to go with this.
K, multiclassing after level 15 what you are losing is precise hunter (advantage n attack rolls vs HM foes) blindsight 30’ r, 1 l4 spell slot, 2 L5 spell slots and 3 new spells - probably a L4 and 2 L5 (possibly Conjure Woodland being (L4), Conjure Volley (L5) and Steel wind strike (L5). As a tier 4 ranger it’s your spells that give you the most bang for your buck not your martial abilities so I’m not convinced tier 1 fighter attributes are really going to help much. Helping your casting with Druid or other full casting classes would as you get spell slots as a multiclassing caster (.5 x 15 round up = 8 +5= L13 caster getting you the L4&5 slots you lost plus a L6 and a L7 along with the cantrips and L1-3 spells of your new class which should be much stronger than the martial benefits of F1-5) .
