I have a horizon walker ranger and I really like the subclass but I feel like it has a bunch of dead levels because of it being a ranger. The furthest I want to take this class is to lvl 11. So I think subclass into cleric: war domain and arcane trickster would give some great combos and support like having hold person action then being able to attack as a bonus, guaranteed hit with lightning arrow plus guided strike, sneak attack, and access to find familiar for free advantage for sneak attack and sharpshooter. Anyways, how could I optimize this? Should I also take a 2 lvl fighter dip? Should I stop with ranger at lvl 5?
War cleric domain has a feature where u can attack as a bonus action up to your wis modifier. So my character concept is that in a past life he was a evil cultist priest but had his memories wiped and transfer to the material plane. I think it be cool if as he leveled up he slowly begins to remember his darker side and begins to pick up his old skills which could be shown thro multiclassing. He has a +3 dex & wis, +2 Str and con, and -2 cha and Int (we rolled for stats so they’re a little chaotic). Thank you for the reply this is my first time posting!
Bias opinion, but warlocks can do a lot. Their a very special kind of full caster, and a rangers half caster abilities with their spell slots would make it a fun combo. Warlocks are definitely the most physical full caster as well, and you can go with pact of the chain to get find familiar, then even have some bonus animals like pseudo dragon and invocations like voice of the chain master.

I'm just going to say that it is hilarious that a Ranger/Warlock multi-class can do a lot more than most choices of animal companion can do for the Beastmaster Ranger! Smh.
To answer the OP's question, some other builds that would work off your stats include the Arcana Cleric (it's Cleric with a dollop of Wizard!) and the Trickery Cleric (put that DEX bonus to evil, I mean good, use!). Flavor your past life as the evil cult's librarian (books are the Devil's work, dontchaknow?). Or like, be part of a cult that's all about chronic lying!

I think you are trying to multiclass into too many classes.
Not sure what you think will let you attack as a bonus action.
Guided lightning strike is a cool combo (not guaranteed, but close).
There are several ways to get find familiar.
Fighter is not a bad multiclass, you may even want 4 levels.
Ranger 5 is honestly a good stopping point for most builds.
Why don't you start by telling us what you want the character to be able to do and what its ability scores are, then we can plan around that.

The war cleric feature you mention requires you to attack with your action that turn, so you can't do it the same turn you cast hold person.
I think just war or death cleric could fit your character concept (starting ranger then switching over after level 5).
You can use a feat to get find familiar, either magic initiate or ritual caster.
Ah got it, and taking a feat would be way easier than a 3 lvl's of rouge. Thank you for the clarification and advice!

Here, have some homebrew classes! Subclasses to? Why not races. Feats, feats as well. I have a lot of magic items. Lastly I got monsters, fun, fun times.
You ate not wrong, but they would need at least +6, maybe +7 in CHA in order to multiclass to it. I based my advice on that.
That's true, I missed the part about having that low of charisma. But I'm very bias because I love warlocks and think their underplayed.
