So this is just an ask to have someone else double check my math.
I have a Shadar Kai Gloom Stalker ranger (level 5)/ Assassin Rogue (level 3) with 20 im DEX and 17 in WIS. He has Bracers of Archery and an Oathbow as his main weapon, archery fighting style, and Alert feat.
Going off all this f***ery, with all the damage bonuses (and DM rule that the Oathbow damage can be added to the Dread Ambusher bonus attack) and Hunter's Mark this twink can punch out 3d8+10d6+14 damage in first round of combat assuming all attacks hit non-crit if his target is after him in initiative order?
Actually, you low balled it. By my count it is 14d6+4d8+21 without crits (which are automatic against surprised enemies).
BA Hunter's mark +1d6 per attack, Attack action with extra attack and dread ambusher for 3 attacks +1d8, oathbow sworn enemy as a free action, +2 damage per attack from bracers of archery, Attack for 1d8+3d6+5 weapon damage (before other bonuses) with advantage, sneak attack for 2d6 extra damage once. Becomes (1d8+4d6+7)×3 +1d8 +2d6. With +10 to hit (+5 DEX, +3 prof, +2 style) and advantage.
You have guaranteed crits against surprised enemies (which is difficult depending on party comp) which brings your possible damage to 28d6+8d8+21. Gloom stalker assassin is the most nova combo I've ever seen.
From here 11 levels of battle master and poisonedarrows of slaying and sharpshooter feat give you the most damage possible with a single character. (Poison and arrows are expensive and consumable though). This combo can one turn kill a tarrasque.
Two levels of battlemaster makes it a lot higher ;)
I couldn't figure out if you were talking to me or the OP.
If you were talking to OP, it doesn't even make sense because it takes 3 levels to get a subclass, and moreover I just mentioned going battle master.
If you were talking to me, then it is incorrect. You would have to give up 2 levels of another class in order to gain 1 use of indomitable and nothing else. Regardless of what class you take the levels from, you lose more than you gain.
My conclusion is, you were talking to OP and meant to say 3 levels. Echoing a tiny portion of my suggestion.
I was talking to op, to clarify that even with a small bit of figther you get a huge advantage on flash dps due to action surge due to its incredible synergy with assassinate and gloom stalker extra attack :)

Yeah, assassinate, dread ambusher, amd action surge come together in a beautifully deadly combo.

Is that right???

Jear Desus that is both horrifying and the most amazing thing I've ever seen! Thank you!
