I am in SKT currently and I have a level 5 ranger. I have it classed with archery and I use sharpshooter mostly for some long range artillery. I typically am the most dps each fight even with another ranger and 2 fighters. Which leads into our problem. We have no real healers. We had our wizard drop out. We are losing one fighter and gaining a sorcerer. I have cure wounds and healing spirit and am the only real healing help. I enjoy ranger alot and was planning to run it deep but would 1 slot into cleric be useful? And if so, which one is the best one?
I am in a similar situation, and i narrowed it down to two choices for me: War Domain for the extra attack feature or Life Domain for the extra healing boost.
honestly you should be fine to just keep playing ranger as they get a bit of healing and the best way to not getting your entire party dead is to make shure that any enemies of your party is dead and thus unable to harm your friends. If you feel that your friends fall unconcious in battle too often and you do not want to waste your action to cast cure wounds you might perhaps consider replacing cure wounds with healing word or goodberry.
however if you do pick up cleric, you should ether stop progressing as cleric after 1st or after 3rd level, since those are the levels where you are going to see the most benefit to your overall fighting style with acess to spells like spiritual weapon, guardian of faith, aid etc.
Note that if your DM follows the rules for multiclassing verry strictly, you will have as many spell slots at 6th level as an ranger 5 cleric 1 as you had when you where an level 5 ranger.
Also note that if you for some strange reason have an high strength score, this can be an good way to get the heavy armor proficiency you never had with the right domain
