okay so since your actions are demanded for the beast to really do anything at all, an beast master ranger who has multiple companions will not completely ruin the action economy and so ether giving the beast master an maximum number of compnaions equal to his or her wisdom modifier or increasing the cap for maximum number of companions at 7th 11th and 15th level would not significantly affect the subclass that strongly, but it would make the subclass a little cooler, a little bit more veratile and a bit more useful while also slightly helping the hit point problem

I think maybe having a cap on that, like your beasts can have a cr equal to 1/2. So 1/8 and 1/8 is 1/2. 1/4 and 0. That would work.
